Week 5 Observations - College Football

In the ACC, Wake Forest survived a major trap game by going on the road in

Tallahassee and winning. Georgia Tech comes out of nowhere with their Russell

Athletic sponsorship and ruins Pitt’s season.

Moving on to the Big 12 where Oklahoma went on the road in Abilene, and laid a

giant egg against TCU. Is Kansas officially a football school? Kansas is 5-0 for the

first time since Dorothy first sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.

In the Big Ten Minnesota could not row past Purdue and came crashing back down

to earth. But can they bounce back and keep their place atop the Big Ten West?

Illinois’ win was so big over Wisconsin that they sent local hero HC Chryst packing

so early in October. Makes one wonder if there is more to that story than what

meets the eye.

UConn beating Fresno State might be the most underrated victory from week 5.

They had no business winning that game but if you have held on to UConn this far

you were certainly rewarded!

In the MAC the biggest highlight was BGSU going on the road in Akron and winning.

That was huge for those of us who are still on the BGSU Bandwagon!

No news in the PAC-12 as every home team won in week 5 to avoid any real shock

to the system. And yes we all knew Washington was going to be tested in their first

road game of the season.

In the SEC Alabama reminded Arkansas they are Alabama and asserted their SEC

dominance. I still don’t know what to make of Mississippi State coming off their big

win against Texas A&M. UGA gave everyone some hope for chaos but ended up

prevailing late over Missouri. UGA game proves you cannot take anything for

granted on the road in conference play in major college football.

After week 6 team values begin to update the fun really begins! Stay tuned!
