Week 12 Observations

Week 12 turned out to be ripe with upsets and flipped the CFB world upside down!

4 of the top 15 ranked teams fell in week 12 including Tennessee, Utah, UNC, and

Ole Miss. Those games were great but I don’t think anything can compare to Navy

knocking off 20 th ranked UCF without completing a single pass. Navy QB was 0/1

and registered a 15.5 QBR rating. In two weeks Navy takes on Army for the

Commander-in-Chief trophy where you will see Navy’s triple option that has aged

like a fine wine (when it works).

Also under the radar was Louisville knocking off NCST and Oklahoma salvaging

their season beating Oklahoma State. It’s two more examples on how winning on

the road is so hard no matter the conference in today’s college football.

One team that defied this notion the past two weeks is Kansas State. Despite losing

at home to Texas a couple weeks ago they went into Baylor and West Virginia in

consecutive weeks for two big road wins. KSU is sitting at 8-3 and hosts Kansas next

week. Pre season KSU was ranked 53 rd in our rankings and only expected to win 6.5

games. It’s safe to say they have outperformed expectations with the 8 wins and

currently ranked 15 th in our rankings.

Oregon State is another team that is outperforming their pre season expectations.

Like KSU they were only expected to win 6.5 games but currently sit at 8-3. They

also have won the last two weeks but will host rival Oregon next week. They started

the year ranked 55 th but now sit ranked 21 st in our rankings.

Florida State might be the hottest team in the country that no one is talking about.

They moved up to 8 th in our rankings, but no so long ago most people expected them

to win only 6.5 games and we had them ranked at 54 th to begin the season. They are

riding a 4 game winning steak into next week when they host in state rival Florida

Gators.

Heading into next week, which will be the end of the regular season for most teams,

there are a few teams in our contest sitting with 5 wins hoping to become bowl

eligible. They are as follows:

Georgia Tech

Miami, FL

Michigan State

Buffalo (this past week’s game was postponed)

Miami, OH

Ball State

Missouri

Vanderbilt

Auburn
